I didn’t notice these set of pictures which my sister took last February 14 along Grove until recently. At the start of the week preceding Valentine’s Day, rose vendors would start gathering near UP Gate to sell roses. It starts cheaper then and becoming more expensive by the eve of February 14 and then starts to get cheaper again by the evening of Valentine’s Day. And what of Mernel’s of the heart-shaped chocolates?
I’m not so sure when so many vendors started selling roses at the Gate. During my college days, it was only Aning’s at Crossing that existed.
Check this blog from Prologue Computers – http://prologuelb.blogspot.com! Remember Prologue? I wouldn’t have survived my BS theses without them – from their computer rentals, those huge diskettes and helpful personnel. They are still at Anest Tower with telephone number: 536-2057. Head over to their blog to see what’s the latest laptop in the market, computer tips and the latest products available. They sell them at Manila price, too.

Last week was the Feb Fair, a much awaited event each year by students and alumni alike. Since I didn’t have any org at all, I was not too keen on looking around the students. I preferred going to the food booths, eating barbecues (I wonder where they go the rest of the year), enjoying the food soold by international students and basically just moving around and mingling with old friends and classmates who came just for this. I met some classmates I haven’t seen since I graduated in 1995 so that was really memorable. The food was good, although I missed Mrs Phuong this year. Do you recall eating Vietnamese spring rolls during the Feb Fair many years back? Anyway, she has a resto at Agrix so I can go there anytime.
“In the early 1920s, a contest was held to give expression to that elusive thing—the “UP Spirit.” A contest was held to select the lyrics to be put to music, and both words and notes were to move both students and alumni to recall what it meant to belong to the University of the Philippines.”
