Magkano pamasahe sa jeep noong undergrad kayo?
Down memory lane…
Let’s take a trip back to LB with the ubiquitous jeepney. PhySci, BioSci, Baker, Women’s, Men’s Dorm (or Men Dorms, according to my blockmates who stayed there), AnsSci, Agronomy, Maquiling, Rural, St. Therese, PLDT… these are some of the destinations students usually go to. And since UP Rural High School has transferred to a new location, no more Rural. No more PLDT either as it has been replaced by DA-BAR. Now, it is CSI. Ever experienced “battling” it out with students who live near Raymundo Gate because you live at Ilag’s Compound? Back then, jeepneys have the option to go right to Raymundo Gate or to go left to Ilag’s. I used to live at Ilag’s Compound then. So once I get on the jeep I usually tell the driver I’m dropping off at Ilag’s, loud enough for other passengers to hear. Drivers usually prefer turning right to Ilag’s. And do you recall when you asked the driver to bring you to Audi? It is now Umali Auditorium. Ans students call it Umali (and I thought Umali meant Umali Subdivision!). I can also recall that you can actually ask the driver to bring you up to the library. Now, you either drop off at BioSci or at Coop. Hence no more jokes about the freshman who asked the driver to bring him to the library, “second floor, ho”.
From 25 centavos (or even lower) to 6 pesos student fare, the jeepney ride is really part of every UPLB residents life.
Magkano pamasahe sa jeep noong undergrad kayo?
Please post your comments. Salamat po.

oo naglalakad ako kasi i used to live at Cendana’s Dorm in front of AgEd. E nung freshman ako wala masyadong jeep na nag right-turn at the UPLB gate..it was difficult to get a ride if you lived on Kanluran compounds–(Santos’, Dawis’, Ynalvez’, Villareal’s, Velasco’s, Rosqueta’s, Cendana’s and Student Center) because the jeeps on this route were already full with people going to UPCO or Jamboree. The road in front of RETELCO (which the PLDT building used to be called) going to BioSci did not exist yet and there was only a concrete walkway….so most of the time, the Kanluran folks had to walk (di ko na rin kasi matandaan ang pamasahe….he he….definitely lower than PHP 1.00!)

I remember, with my 20 pesos i can go home to Dagupan City (Pangasinan) via air con PANTRANCO bus. I need to leave Dagupan early kasi last trip ng BLTB from lawton parang 5 pm pa
October 13th, 2006 at 10:50 am
P1.25 din. P1.00 naman blue book.
October 13th, 2006 at 11:10 pm
October 26th, 2006 at 7:42 am
50 centavos pag student, 75 pag hindi.
whatsuplb, start ka ng isa pang thread, on bluebook naman, just like what 91-@#$%& mentioned.
February 3rd, 2007 at 5:32 am
i remember i used to pay 75 cents when i was still a freshman in uplb. i was batch 89.
March 8th, 2007 at 8:11 am
Tapos i went on LOA for 3 sems. When I got back, Php6.00 na daw pamasahe. I always had a bunch of 25cents pa naman dati so that those drivers who usually lie that they don’t have change for a 5peso coin can just give me a buck tapos bibigyan ko syang dalawang 25cents.. Hehehe. Sigurista!
May 10th, 2007 at 1:29 pm
yes P1.25 nga ata. yoko maglakad. kahit mens dorm to physci… - batch 90
May 13th, 2007 at 12:14 pm
7 pesos na pamasahe at pag weekends, walang student fare!
May 15th, 2007 at 9:48 am
Just to give you an idea during my time in LB. When i transferred from Diliman to LB, my parents gave me a weekly allowance of P100.00 or P20/day (monday to friday). This already includes fare (to & from Paranaque/Pasay) which, if i remember right, was P1.25 one way. this was during the mid 70’s. Cely’s was the in-place for meals at grove. the bowling lane (beside hongkong grocery??) was still in business. Sexy and Pogi’s grocery was the place to get your midnight snacks if you do not have enough for toyang’s pancit canton at crossing.
lots of memories!!!

P1.25 in 1993! blue book at P1! men’s dorm bulok (unit 1, yes, the fire hazard)- P90/month. i was livin la vida Harry Potter pala!!!

September 2nd, 2007 at 12:57 pm
haha… nakakatuwang magbasa ng mga posts. I had my high school in rural. Rural was still in front of St. Therese. We started that the fare was only 50cents. naaalala ko pa sa halagang P5.00 malilibre mo na lahat ng barkada mo pag magp-PE sa Baker.
October 25th, 2007 at 4:16 pm
October 28th, 2007 at 7:14 am
It was 50 cents for students back in ‘88, but I preferred walking from grove to human eco bldg.
October 31st, 2007 at 12:36 pm
1.00 to 1.25 if I remember correctly.
December 5th, 2007 at 4:25 am
1 peso to 1.50
