Visiting the garden show

I managed to visit the garden show last April and here are some pictures. The plant in focus are the crotons or what we know as San Francisco. They come in dazzling yellows and various shapes. There were also entried on the Bangkok kalachuchi, the first time I saw in white. In recent years, herbs has been the fashion, so there’s a variety of herbs available, too. Things I looked forward, too, was getting the kafir plant, whose leaves make for very delicious Thai dishes. What else did I see? Here are the pictures:

From driving or commuting to UPLB from Manila or driving or commuting from Quezon Province and Bicol Region  to alternative routes, it’s all there.

Summers at UPLB

April 01, 2007 By: whatsuplb Category: UPLB campus 2 Comments →

How do you know that summer is finally here at UPLB? Not the long hot days nor the endless exams when the semester is about to end. Rather, you know it’s summer when the cotton tree starts to release its seeds and cotton fiber is all around. Bad news for those with asthma and allergic rhinitis. Getting back on track after Milenyo

April 01, 2007 By: whatsuplb Category: UPLB campus No Comments →

Here’s how the PhySci waiting shed looked like the day after Milenyo passed by UPLB. Lots of trees were uprooted (except the Fertility Tree and the (in)famous Dao tree-I should writing something about them!). The Christmas belen was made from branches of trees felled by Milenyo. We had several weeks of no electricity, no lighting,  no classes for a week, a postponed final exams.

Six months after, we have a new waiting shed! Summer classes starts in a few weeks. Graduation day is April 28.

As one of my favorite quotes go, “Life is good. Life goes on.” said Splinter the Ninja Master to April O’ Neal after she lost all her possessions when Shredder burned her apartment building.

Life is good. Life goes on.

Interested to learn something new this summer? Well, the UPLB Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Research and Extension (OVCRE) is again offering short courses this summer – from animal science to forestry to econmonics. The OVCRE offers non-degree Short Courses and Training Programs which provide practical knowledge and skills in various subject matters. These courses are offered annually mostly during
summer months of April, May, and June but they can also be offered any time of the year upon the request of an organization or a group of interested parties.

I have a pdf file of the catalog, so if you are interested, please email me: whatsuplb@gmail.com
