Let’s go swimming

One of UPLB students’ best  kept secrets is probably Imaculada (or is is Immaculate/Imaculata?) swimming pool in Bayan. Most swimming enthusiasts would know about it, especially if you don’t like to get sunburned swimming at Baker Hall or when the Botanical Garden pool is close (which is probably the case most times of the year). I went swimming here with my dorm mates for many a night and a few years back, my blockmates had a reunion here. They’ve undergone several changes already, new roofing for the pool, a landscaped garden and new benches, and clean shower stalls! The water is warm as well, but not too hot like other pools. Entrance fee is only 40 pesos and best of all, it is not so crowded like other public swimming pools.

Familiar scenes along Lopez Ave

Remember these places along Lopez Ave? Perhaps you’ve live at Revilleza Compound, shopped at Tony’s, or got held up in traffic along Lopez Elem. School as you rush to your 7 am class!

I’ve uploaded useful telephone numbers from UPLB that has been asked several times. So here they are, plus telephone numbers of different establishments outside UPLB. Did I miss out anything? Feel free to contribute to this list.

Taking the trolley

April 15, 2007 By: whatsuplb Category: Los Banos 1 Comment →

One of the things not to be missed when staying here in Los Banos is the trolley ride that goes from IRRI to Crossing in San Antonio. It’s an entirely different view of Los Banos, much like visiting Bayan. So last week, my friends and had the chance to take trolley. I’ve taken the trolley so many years ago I’ve already forgotten how to ride in one. It sure beats traffic and the waiting for the jeepney that leaves IRRI! There are many sights to see. The railroad track passes through Molawin creek, so it seems like passing through the hanging bridge for a while. So many houses line up the tracks, people seating on the rails can be seen, dogs crossing, a man caressing his manok pangsabong watches us as we pass by, sari-sari stores…
