Nangyari na to last 1995, pero hindi ganito kagrabe kase nakalbo lang yung mga royal palm trees that time, according to my former Ilag’s Compound housemates na batch 95. Konti lang mga old trees na natumba..at walang 1 week suspension ng classes after the typhoon as I remember the story.
Yung tree na natumba sa may admin sobrang tanda na nun…sayang. Pati yung ibang landmark trees..Sana maayos ulit ang landscape ng elbi..kakalungkot tingnan.

How sad am I when I saw the pictures after the typhoon. I’ll pray that UPLB will regain its “beauty and calmness” soon. Miss to be home and visit UPLB.
Thank you so much for the update.
UPLB Alumni abroad.

I think Gonzalez compound is okay. Heartbreaker talaga yung hanging bridge, had so many memories with my friends passing there. One week suspended ang classes. October 30 ang last day of exams.

I was so shocked to see all those photos knowing I won’t be able to see those familiar trees again. Nakakahinayang talaga…imagine, those trees have always been there since my Maquiling days … Rural High years and UP college days & after. LB won’t be the same again for sure as these trees have been witnessed to a lot of students’ activities throughout the years. I hope they will replace them with the same species so that in another 50 years or more our children & grandchildren will be able to see UPLB the way it was during our time. Yun eh suggestion lang naman. Maraming salamat sa nag-post ng mga pics. Mabuhay ka for keeping us updated! Sa mga taga-LB na nasalanta ng bagyo … I sympathize with all of you and hopefully you will all be able to bounce back from this terrible experience. I send you all my prayers.

Naku! Nakayanan namin. Imagine?
Salamat sa mga pics. Kawawang mga puno. Kawawang mga estudyante. Finals na diba? Kaya niyo yan!!!Astig naman tayong lahat taga LB.

i have lived all my life in UPLB. yup nakkasad talaga ang nangyari…you should have seen what happened to forestry and UPCO. it was such a mess. sana post mo din if you have pix, ung creek sa baker, the hanging bridge near st. therese chapel and forestry.yung acacia tree near admin, mamimiss ko. i rememer how it use to shade us when we walk from UP gate to the old Rural High. ngayon ang liwanag na dun sa lugar na yun. sabi ng mga matatanda dito matgal na daw yung punong yun. buti na lang yung controvrsial na Dao tree sa SU buhay pa and the fertility tree sa baker lower ground. sana mabalik ang dating ganda ng UPLB. milenyo was the worst typhoon to have hit UPLB. classes were suspended for 1 week. the day after milenyo, students especially SAKBAYAN were busy asking for relief goods to help yung mga nasalanta. sa BAgong Silang, sa taas ng forestry sa may mud spring, may mga namatay. at may ilan pa din daw nawawala til now.yun ang pinakananakakalungkot na nangyari.
October 16th, 2006 at 7:38 am
Grabe pala ang epekto ni Milenyo sa LB!
In my four years there, di ko naranasan ang ganun katinding bagyo! Kakalungkot tingnan ang mga pics!
