Magkano pamasahe sa jeep noong undergrad kayo?

Down memory lane…

Let’s take a trip back to LB with the ubiquitous jeepney. PhySci, BioSci, Baker, Women’s, Men’s Dorm (or Men Dorms, according to my blockmates who stayed there), AnsSci, Agronomy, Maquiling, Rural, St. Therese, PLDT… these are some of the destinations students usually go to. And since UP Rural High School has transferred to a new location, no more Rural. No more PLDT either as it has been replaced by DA-BAR. Now, it is CSI. Ever experienced “battling” it out with students who live near Raymundo Gate because you live at Ilag’s Compound? Back then, jeepneys have the option to go right to Raymundo Gate or to go left to Ilag’s. I used to live at Ilag’s Compound then. So once I get on the jeep I usually tell the driver I’m dropping off at Ilag’s, loud enough for other passengers to hear. Drivers usually prefer turning right to Ilag’s. And do you recall when you asked the driver to bring you to Audi? It is now Umali Auditorium. Ans students call it Umali (and I thought Umali meant Umali Subdivision!). I can also recall that you can actually ask the driver to bring you up to the library. Now, you either drop off at BioSci or at Coop. Hence no more jokes about the freshman who asked the driver to bring him to the library, “second floor, ho”.

From 25 centavos (or even lower) to 6 pesos student fare, the jeepney ride is really part of every UPLB residents life.

A foray into blogging

Hi! Welcome to What’s UP, Los Baños! This is just an experimental phase. Sort of a news and events portal for fellow UPLB people in Los Baños and around the world. Let’s see where it will go…

For some background, I am a batch `91 girl, currently in Los Baños though I’ve been away here right after graduation. Now I’m back and will probably be based in LB for a couple of years. I might as well keep you up to date on what’s happening in LB.Wouldn’t it be great to keep in touch? To reminisce what UPLB was like when we were “reigning” its academic halls and roaming its streets?
